# Connect your merchant account

Connect your merchant account in Portal Timbro and get paid with your payment links. If you will connect your own system through the API, follow [Prepare your account](https://timbro.do/en/docs/empieza/antes-de-integrar/).

## Before you start

- Your business’s RNC.
- Your merchant account, enabled for online sales. If you’re not sure it is, ask Azul, CardNet, or Portal.

## Create your account and try a link

1. Open [Portal Timbro](https://app.timbro.do/) and enter your email. We send you a code to sign in; you don’t need a password or a card.
2. Search for your business by RNC or name and confirm it. Enter the name your customers will see when they pay, and choose who you take cards with today, such as Azul or CardNet. If you choose Other, enter only the name, with no account numbers or keys.
3. On Home, create your first test payment link and pay it as if you were your customer, using the test card Checkout offers you. You’ll then see the payment in Payments.

No real money moves, and you don’t need your merchant account yet. If Portal Timbro says test payments aren’t available yet, [write to us](https://timbro.do/en/contacto/) and we’ll look into it with you.

- [CardNet](https://timbro.do/en/docs/negocio/conectar-afiliacion/#tab-panel-0-1)
- [Portal](https://timbro.do/en/docs/negocio/conectar-afiliacion/#tab-panel-0-2)

You can connect your Azul merchant account from Portal Timbro without waiting on anyone. An owner or administrator can do it; whoever confirmed the business is already its owner.

### Connect with test credentials

Before you collect live, Azul asks you to make a few test payments, with credentials it sends you for that.

1. Open Settings › Connections › Azul and choose Connect test merchant account.
2. Open “Where do I get the credentials?”, copy the message, and send it to Azul. Copy `onboarding@timbro.do` so we can help you along.
3. When Azul replies, enter the merchant number (Merchant ID), Auth1, and Auth2. Then choose the certificate and its private key (`.pem`, `.crt`, `.cer`, or `.key`, up to 32 KB each) and save.

### Run the four tests

Portal Timbro shows you one test at a time:

| Test | What you do |
| ----------------------------------- | --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Approved payment | In Checkout, choose the “No challenge” test card and complete the payment. |
| Payment declined by 3D Secure | In Checkout, choose the “Challenge without Method” card. On Azul’s page, click “Rejected”, then come back to Portal Timbro. |
| Payment with 3D Secure verification | In Checkout, choose the “Challenge without Method” card. On Azul’s page, click “Yes”, then come back to Portal Timbro. |
| Full refund | You don’t need to pay anything. Once the first test is approved, click Test the refund. |

Each test ends as Approved or Not approved. If it isn’t approved, Portal Timbro explains why and you can repeat it. If it says Awaiting confirmation, we’re waiting for Azul’s answer; in the meantime, don’t make another test payment, and check back later. If a test fails again, or Portal Timbro asks you to, [write to us](https://timbro.do/en/contacto/) before repeating it.

Azul sees your tests in its own system, so you don’t need to send it the results. If it asks for additional tests, you can run them under Additional Azul tests. While Azul reviews, you can keep using your test links. Once Azul approves, it will send you your live credentials.

### Connect live

Once Azul approves your tests, it will send you your live credentials. In Settings › Connections, choose Connect live and enter them. Then check the cards Azul enabled. When you save, we ask Azul whether it accepts the credentials, and your live payments start once it does.

Your money arrives through Azul, as it does today, and your merchant account’s fee doesn’t change. If you want to replace the credentials later, you first need to repeat the tests.

### If something fails

| What you see | What you can do |
| ------------------------------------------------------------------------- | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Azul didn’t accept the credentials | Confirm with Azul that they are the test credentials for your merchant account, then save them again. |
| We couldn’t connect to Azul with these credentials | They may not be enabled for Timbro yet. Ask Azul to check them. |
| Azul didn’t accept the live credentials | Make sure they’re the live credentials Azul sent you, then replace them. |
| We couldn’t reach Azul to check your credentials | Wait a moment and choose Check with Azul. Your live payments start once Azul accepts them. |
| The certificate and private key need to be PEM files | Choose both files again; each can be up to 32 KB. |
| Only an owner or administrator of the business can set up this connection | Ask that person to set up the connection or to give you the administrator role. |

We connect your CardNet merchant account for you. When you create your account, say you collect with CardNet; if you already created it, click Request the connection in Settings › Connections or [write to us](https://timbro.do/en/contacto/). In the meantime, you can keep creating test links.

We connect your Portal merchant account for you. When you create your account, say you collect with Portal; if you already created it, click Request the connection in Settings › Connections or [write to us](https://timbro.do/en/contacto/). In the meantime, you can keep creating test links.
